Term Dates and Holidays
2022-2023
The last day of Term 2 will be Friday 16th December.
Term 3 begins on Wednesday 4th January 2023
These are the general term dates for schools in East Sussex to help you with forward planning. They are also available to download here in calendar form. Occasionally the dates at Guestling vary - do check our News and Events page for any changes, including our INSET days.
How term dates are set
Many people live and work across county borders, so we work with neighbouring local authorities such as Kent, West Sussex and Brighton & Hove, to try to match dates across the region as far as possible. The total number of teaching days and holidays remain the same each year.
Staff training (INSET) days
Extra days are allocated for staff training, when schools are closed to pupils. The dates of these extra days vary from school to school. See the list below.
Term-time holidays
You should not take your child out of school for a holiday during term time. Headteachers will not authorise the absence unless it is under exceptional circumstances. Click on the document below to read the holiday leaflet published by East Sussex County Council.
