PE and Sport at Guestling Bradshaw School
At Guestling Bradshaw School, we recognise the vital role that physical education and sport play in supporting children's health, well-being and overall development. Through a broad and varied PE curriculum, alongside a range of extra-curricular clubs, competitions and sporting opportunities, we aim to inspire all children to lead active and healthy lives.
We believe that high-quality physical education has a positive impact on children's concentration, confidence, self-esteem and attitude towards learning. Guided by our school values of Love, Respect, Courage, Wonder, Community and Growth, pupils develop important life skills through sport, including teamwork, resilience, determination, fair play and respect for themselves and others.
There is strong evidence that regular physical activity supports children's physical health, emotional well-being and cognitive development. Sport also provides valuable opportunities for children to challenge themselves, experience success, learn from setbacks and develop the confidence to persevere when faced with difficulties.
What is the PE and Sport Premium?
The Primary PE and Sport Premium is government funding provided to schools to improve the quality of physical education, physical activity and sport for all pupils. Schools receive funding based on the number of pupils in Years 1 to 6. Schools with 17 or more eligible pupils receive £16,000, plus an additional £10 per pupil.
This funding enables us to enhance our PE provision, broaden sporting opportunities and ensure that all children benefit from high-quality physical education and opportunities to be active throughout the school day.
