Our link school in Sierra Leone -Africa

We are part of the Sierra Leone Hastings Schools Group and are linked with Maynard Primary and Secondary school, Kossoh Town, Western Rural Area, Sierra Leone. The Headteacher is Mrs Abdulai. You can visit the website by clicking here.

Linking schools is absolutely fundamental to the friendship between the two Hastings. Though resources are very limited – almost non-existent – the children in Hastings SL see education as something precious. Schooling means primary education for most children – the opportunities for secondary education are extremely limited. In spite of the difficulties of getting work carried in either direction, classes are gradually making contact.

Hastings Sierra Leone Friendship Link- Bring communities together.

Following the fantastic success of the 2020 Seeds Challenge, Hastings Sierra Leone Friendship Link and colleagues in Sierra Leone set up a School Farms Project for 2021. This new project aims to enable a self-sustaining annual harvest, build skills in agriculture and create opportunities for employment. The Schools and Livelihoods section of the Link are working together on this project. We have supported this projsect with fundraising and earlier this year Guestling Bradshaw was involved in a wonderful community celebration project.
